Itinerary Overview

Fly from Windhoek via Sossusvlei to the central Skeleton Coast, travel north into the restricted wilderness zone, then return south via Swakopmund. Depart from Windhoek or Swakopmund.

Day 1: Windhoek — Fly to Sossusvlei

Charter flight from Windhoek to Sossusvlei for a late afternoon dune walk and sunset over the Namib. One night in the desert before heading to the coast.

Day 2: Fly to the Skeleton Coast

Morning flight west to the Skeleton Coast. Overfly the coastal dune belt and land near one of the remote camp airstrips. Afternoon guided walk to a Cape fur seal colony — hundreds of thousands of animals along a shoreline littered with whale bones and rusted anchor chains. The cold Benguela current drives both the fog and the abundant marine life; the landscape is unlike anything else in Africa.

Day 3: Wilderness Zone — Desert-Adapted Wildlife

Full day in the restricted wilderness section of the Skeleton Coast National Park. Guided game drives in search of desert-adapted lions and elephants. The Hoarusib River canyon cuts through the dunes; elephant herds move quietly between the dry riverbeds and the ocean. Wildlife on its own terms, in its own terrain.

Day 4: Fly South — Swakopmund

Morning flight south along the coastline to Swakopmund. Afternoon at leisure — the contrast between the raw Skeleton Coast and this genteel colonial town is one of the defining moments of the trip.

Depart from Swakopmund airport or transfer to Windhoek for your onward flight.
